Artfoil is also known as scraper art, scraperboard, scraper foil, foil art or Art Foil.

In school I had a great art teacher, Virgilio Sanchez.  What made him great was that he himself was an artist, not just a teacher.  He was a painter and I believe his medium was dry pastels.

But being an artist, he knew about a lot of different crafts and art techniques.  One of the ones I loved the most was a craft where he made us take a piece of paper, use a lot of different color crayons, and cover the entire page with color.  Then, we would paint the entire page with black egg tempera.  Once this was completely dry, we would use a pattern we loved and scrape it with a needle.  The result was a delicate and colorful piece of art.

Artfoil, I discovered, is a similar technique.  The exception is, the main piece of paper is a piece of foil.  They come in different colors and in different materials (silver, copper, gold).  If you buy a kit, you will get a preprinted outline of the artwork you chose to make things simpler.  Kids from 8 years can participate in this craft.
