This article is going to give you a few ideas that you can take back to your craft table to do with the kids. They are simple to do and don't take to long so your kids will not get bored. Hopefully. Here is an idea that plays off of the good old potato. Take a potato and either a variety of construction paper, in various colors, or some bell peppers of different colors. You will also need some toothpicks and anything else that you think that would be fun to attach to your potato. Next, stick three toothpicks in the base of the potato so that it will stand up on its own. After that you can let the kids apply colorful construction paper or bell peppers onto the potato using toothpicks to attach them. Fan them out on the back of the potato to look like turkey feathers. Get some google eyes and attach them to the potato with peanut butter or tacky glue. Now let the kids use their imaginations to come up with crazy little turkeys all of their own. At Thanksgiving day dinner you can place all of the turkey potato's in the center of the table for a wonderful center piece that will have the kids chatting away about their favorite one. Another great Thanksgiving craft to do with the kids is to make pine cone turkeys. Here is what you will need: pine cones, pipe cleaners, yellow and red felt, tacky glue, google eyes and brown pom pom's. Here is what you do: Take the brown pipe cleaners and twist them around the middle of the pine cone and then loop the ends back around to make them look like feet. Then glue the brown pom pom's onto the front of the pine cone to make it look like a head. Cut out the yellow felt to look like a beak and glue it onto the pom pom and cut the red felt to look like a wattle. Attach this to the beak using the tacky glue. Also glue on the google eyes to the head of the turkey. Next, take the different colored pipe cleaners and twist them around the back end of the pine cone, looping them around to look like tail feathers. Do this with several different colors and then your done! Your kids will have a great time doing these Thanksgiving day crafts and you will have fun spending time with them. Thanksgiving is the holiday of eating and giving thanks. Possibly reflecting on all that you have and being thankful for it. But this is also the time to have fun with the kids as they will have a few days off from school and that means the perfect opportunity to do some thanksgiving day crafts with your little ones.
